Guest Post by Paul Smith "Everything’s Possible"

Everything’s possible
Curiously enough, children suffer from a lot of diseases, there’s only one question: why these little creatures sometimes face such terrible diagnoses that even adults do not have. Among all the other diseases that demand surgical intervention, there are disorders, that touch another areas of human being. Autism is one of such statements. Last years this phenomenon is not that rare as it was earlier.
Every parent wishes only best for his children, but sometimes it is not in our might to change something. Though there are a lot of ways to try to make the state of a child with autism better, new methods to improve it appear.
Autism affects neutral development, thus a child has drugged reactions or behavior, does not start speaking as the average children do. But still, the parents do not lose hope and do what they might in such a situation.
I have read a big amount of stories of parents relating about their children’s disorders, and I must admit, nowadays autism is a really big problem among children. Though there are measures taken to improve children’s disorders, parents are not always aware of the better ways of treatment.
What parent would like to see his child repelling him? None. Autistic children have no real fear of danger, and it scares a lot, as they may be harmed by anything or anyone. Parents with the autistic children should have a great exposure to go through the therapy with the child and see he is improving. As it will take time to cope with that.
While there are such posts on Internet and the comments of people who experienced that, it is a little easier to find a way to help your child. As a rule, the therapy includes the exercises directed on the emergence of speech and evocation of emotions. Now there a lot of innovations in this area. And one of them is the computer therapy. It means, children are shown their favorite cartoons or videos, TV-program's. On watching them systematically, children start repeating the moves they see, and speak the words they hear. It is a big progress in treating autistic children. With such method they progress better, and what is much more important, they do all the actions and behave without any instructions, by their own. It’s incredible!
The problems of autistic children are supposed to increase in their amount till the 2022. If now statistics shows that we have one autistic child of eighty eight, till 2022 this number will be one of nine(!) children. Of course, in the epoch of high technologies and great intellectual personalities, we can have hopes that the autism problems will be not as fearful in ten years as it seems now. As we know, the families with such children have a higher rate of divorces… I hope, in future we will change it. All such families need is patience and mutual understanding. Children are our everything, let’s make their life happy and give them a great childhood. Everything’s possible!

Being that it was the first time we did it other people saw the pictures of the pumpkins and requested for me to make some.
I made Pumpkins for a fundraiser and also made for people to place as ornament in their homes as a remembrance of the love ones they lost. It was a great experience! The pumpkins were made with my own money and anything I made from selling the pumpkins I donated that who total to Breast Cancer Walk

This year I have started early, LETS BRING BREAST CANCER AWARENESS OUT with Pumpkins!
Besides Breast Cancer I am thinking of doing pumpkins with different ribbons of awareness (Autism, Lupus, ADHD, ect...). Stay tune to see how they come out! :-)

Oh update on my aunt she has received her chemo, radiation and as of last week was told that she is cancer free! She looked Cancer in the face and beat it!
Now we have an aunt in Puerto Rico who after 14 yrs Breast Cancer free has to deal with the cancer once again and she also is looking it in the face and will beat it with gods grace.

Ranting Blog!

My son not only had Autism he has ADHD and ODD! With all these diagnoses he's very over loaded! It's hard for us to go out as a family. My husband and I split the kids in order to go out. He takes one and I take one. We switch like this often. Or we leave one with a sitter to go out US together with one. Its rare that we four go out together!
I wish ppl were more understanding when it comes to special needs! Do to this unawareness is the reason why we don't all go out together because ppl just don't UNDERSTAND!

Dear Autism

Dear Autism,

I never suspected that you and I would have a relationship. I never thought I would know you so well. No matter how well I know you, you always surprise me. Sometimes it's a bad surprise, a good punch in the gut. And other times, the surprise is nothing short of a miracle.

Every time I think I have you figured out, when I think I have a good strategy in place, just when I think I know what to expect, you change your game without any notice. I can never be comfortable in your presence.

You don't play fair. You are known for throwing curve balls. There are no rules playing with you. I can never be totally comfortable because I know you are there. I never really know what's up or what to expect. I try to be as ready as I can. I always have to have my game face on.

I appreciate the good qualities that you have brought. I do not appreciate the bad ones and I get angry at you for making things so difficult for my family. There are many times when things that should be easy and simple are horrible and difficult because of you. You have made the smallest things at times impossible. On the other hand, you have made me appreciate the small things and celebrate the tiny successes because I now know that they can be the most joyous.

As you know, over the past two years our relationship changes by the minute. Sometimes I'm mad at you, sometimes I absolutely despise you, sometimes I accept your uninvited presence, and sometimes I actually even like you.

I understand that my feelings on this will continue to change and cycle just as everything here does. I have been on a rollercoaster of emotions with you. You have brought me to tears in an instant, broken my heart, made me the happiest and the saddest person on the planet, all at the same time.

There will always be good days and bad days. I will never be able to trust you since you are so unpredictable. Our relationship will probably always change day to day. However, I am sure we will never be besties.

From,
Mommy

SARAH'S WORLD GUEST POSTING: Please read and share!!! Thank You!!!

Written By Sarah Hernandez
Sarah’s World, http://sarahsworld57.yolasite.com/ will be hosting fundraisers for the next few months for two very special people in my family.
The first my brother, Isaac Candelario who was wrongfully convicted to 8 years in prison for abusing his back than 4 month old daughter. My brother is nothing, but a loving and caring father who is sick to his stomach for what he is going through.
The second very special person is my niece, Isanna. Isanna was born with a medical condition called External hydrocephalus. External hydrocephalus (EH) is a condition in which infants with rapidly enlarging heads are found to have a CT scan that shows widening of the subarachnoid space with mild or no ventricular dilation. Due to this Diagnosis authorities assumed that she was a victim of SBS (Shaken Baby Syndrome).
Shaken Baby Syndrome is a serious syndrome, there are a lot of people being wrongfully accused of SBS. Out of 100% of people who are accused 5% of cases are "Wrongfully" accused and my brother Isaac fell into that percentage. After learning the facts of so many wrongfully accused I am determined to raise awareness about the misdiagnosis of Shaken Baby Syndrome .

To understand more of the story please go to>>>>

~Alzheimer's Walk 2013~

Alzheimer's is a type of dementia that causes problems with memory, thinking and behavior. Symptoms usually develop slowly and get worse over time, becoming severe enough to interfere with daily tasks.

I'm walking to help reclaim the future for millions. By participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's I'm committed to raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer research care and support.

Currently more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.

I need your support to do my part! Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research into prevention treatments and a cure for Alzheimer's. For the millions already affected by the disease the Association offers care education support and resources in communities nationwide.

Thank you for joining our movement! The end of Alzheimer's disease starts here.

Tips for Avoiding Meltdowns In Public

Here are some tips to avoid meltdowns in public.
  1. Have a plan and stick to it. Make sure you know what actions you will take in case things go awry and stick with it. If you have to leave the store, do so. It may not be the most convenient choice, but it’s the best choice for you and your child.
  2. Discuss the outing before you go. Talking, writing, or drawing what you will do will help your child know what to expect. If your child can make a list and check it off, that can be even more helpful. That way they know the plan and will lessen their anxiety. If you are going to the grocery store, let your child know if they can or cannot have a treat today. However, it can be rewarding to let them choose between 2 cereals you approve.
  3. Be prepared. If you know your child needs a communication device, drink, snack, etc for the outing do not forget it.

It may be helpful to have your child earn a reward for good behavior when they get home. This can be done verbally or by having a pad and paper around indicating how many stars they need and how many have been earned.
